The National Park Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse project is the result of a collective work. It relies on participatory governance and a network of associations, entrepreneurs and citizens. It is founded on a transformative and inclusive vision of the territory.
Governance rooted in the territory
Teamwork
The non-profit organisation (NPO) Bureau de Projet du Parc national ESEM consists of a multidisciplinary team of 24 employees, each working in their various fields of expertise to bring the National Park's projects to life and achieve its goals. This work is overseen by a board of directors and the Territorial Coalition.

A collective dynamic
The 23 members of the Territorial Coalition, the core of the National Park’s governance, approve the project's main policy directions several times a year. Ten of them make up the board of directors of the NPO Bureau de Projet du Parc national ESEM. These 23 members are part of a Broad Coalition of some 80 regional public, associative and private partners who support the project. A Scientific Council provides expertise and proposes research directions.

Enrolled landowners and National Park Stakeholders
Enrolled landowners
Dozens of public and private landowners have included their lands within the boundaries of the National Park Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse. For this, they have signed a forest or an agricultural charter committing to greater naturalness and biodiversity. They receive advice and financial support to strengthen the ecological network and ecosystem functions of their plots.
National Park Stakeholders
A dynamic is developing around the project of the National Park to bring together economic and associative stakeholders in sectors such as tourist accommodation, leisure, hotel/restaurant/cafe and food. These socio-economic stakeholders are committed to an open, inclusive and voluntary initiative, promoting an ethical and sustainable business model. Official recognition is granted to stakeholders based on the achievement of certain objectives.
